The Community Foundation of the Quincy Area is accepting applications for its 2010 Competitive Grant Programs. Nonprofit organizations must have IRS 501(c)(3) status classification to apply. Applications are due June 1.
Grants will be awarded from two types of fundsUnrestricted Endowments and Field of Interest Funds.
Unrestricted Endowments provide resources for making grants to serve arts and culture, community betterment, education, health, and human services. Grants from these funds can be made throughout the Community Foundations 13-county geographic service area including: Adams, Brown, Hancock, and Pike Counties in Illinois; Clark, Knox, Lewis, Marion, Monroe, Pike, Ralls and Shelby Counties in Missouri; and Lee County in Iowa. These grants generally will not exceed $1,000.
Field of Interest Fund grants serve specific interests and/or geographic areas, as established by each funds founder.
The Community Foundations application can be:

o Picked up at public libraries in Adams, Brown, Hancock and Pike Counties, Illinois; Clark, Knox, Lewis, Marion, Monroe, Pike, Ralls, and Shelby Counties, Missouri; and Lee County, Iowa.

The Community Foundation of the Quincy Area is a nonprofit resource that connects people who care with causes that matter in the tri-states. It encompasses 13 area counties and works with donors to build charitable funds that support local causes. It is an endowment builder, a donor advisor, community connector and grant maker.
The Community Foundation serves as a savings account, building permanent funds to address significant needs and opportunities now and in the future in our communities. Since 1999, the Community Foundation has awarded more than 730 grants totaling over $1,200,000 through its various funds providing local support for various programs and projects in the tri-states.
