Barry Community Endowment Fund
Media Release - March 28, 2010
On March 20th, the Barry Development Foundation made a donation to the newly formed Barry Community Endowment Fund. The $3,800.00 donation came from the proceeds of the organizations recent Trivia Night & Silent Auction. The donation will boost the total balance of the fund to $5,500, meeting the amount needed to mature the endowment fund. The foundation will continue its effort to grow the community endowment fund through fundraisers and donations.
The Barry Community Endowment Fund was started in December of 2009, and will provide assistance to sustain non-profit organizations in the community. As the endowment fund grows in size more assistance will become available to various community groups.
Foundation President, Shawn Rennecker stated, the community endowment fund will create a continuing source of financial support for the various non-profit organizations that provide valuable projects and programs to the community.
The Barry Community Endowment Fund is held with the Community Foundation of the Quincy Area which is a nonprofit resource that connects people who care with causes that matter in the tri-states. Since the Community Foundation is a publicly supported 501(c)(3) organization, contributions through it for the Barry Community Endowment Fund are tax deductible. Members of the Barry community will make recommendations for grants from the fund.
The Community Foundation helps build permanent funds to address significant needs and opportunities now and in the future in 13 tri-state counties. Since 1999, the Community Foundation has awarded more than 730 grants totaling more than $1.2 million through its various funds providing local support for various programs and projects in the tri-states.
For those interested in making tax deductible contributions to the Barry Community Endowment Fund, please contact either Shawn Rennecker at (217)-335-2215, Steve Schultz, Endowment Fund Chair at (217)-335-2954, or Jill Arnold Blickhan, Executive Director of the Community Foundation.
