Three Local Businesses Support Philanthropy

The Community Foundation of the Quincy Area has awarded grants totaling more than $17,000 to eight organizations, thanks to the generosity and foresight of three local businesses - a law firm, a manufacturer, and a bank. Each established funds with the Community Foundation to provide a permanent source of support for charitable organizations and causes in the community.

Scholarship and Teacher Award Recipients
CF Release - June 24, 2010

The Community Foundation of the Quincy Area has awarded six student scholarships and one teacher recognition award. The awards are funded from permanently endowed funds held with the Community Foundation. The funds provide the annual scholarships at an accredited post-secondary institution for a graduate of each respective high school. One fund also provides a teacher award. A portion of the earnings is reinvested in the funds for continued growth to provide future scholarships and awards.

Pike County Endowment Fund

Individuals and businesses joined together on the Pike County Courthouse lawn Tuesday, May 18 to announce the establishment of the Pike County Endowment Fund. The fund will serve as a permanent endowment benefiting Pike County residents for generations to come. Grants from the fund will support charitable organizations, projects and programs in the county.

Barry Community Endowment Fund
Media Release - March 28, 2010

On March 20th, the Barry Development Foundation made a donation to the newly formed Barry Community Endowment Fund. The $3,800.00 donation came from the proceeds of the organizations recent Trivia Night & Silent Auction. The donation will boost the total balance of the fund to $5,500, meeting the amount needed to mature the endowment fund. The foundation will continue its effort to grow the community endowment fund through fundraisers and donations.

The Community Foundation of the Quincy Area is accepting applications for its 2010 Competitive Grant Programs. Nonprofit organizations must have IRS 501(c)(3) status classification to apply. Applications are due June 1.

2010 Board Members

Sixteen individuals who are leaders in their communities have been elected to the Community Foundation of the Quincy Areas Board of Directors. Among them, they serve nearly 50 community, civic and not-for-profit organizations in their hometowns, counties, or the tri-state region. Nearly all currently hold or have held leadership positions in those organizations.
