Dorothy J. Motley Memorial Scholarship Fund

 Benefits Western High School Graduate

The Dorothy J. Motley Memorial Scholarship Fund was the first scholarship fund established with the Community Foundation. This permanent endowment provides a scholarship for a Western High School (Barry, Illinois) student wishing to attend an accredited college.

“Dorothy was very quaint and lived quietly...loved to collect dolls of all kinds,” according to Debbie Harshman, owner of The Paper in Barry. “She always had something good to say to me and made me feel so special. That quality is priceless...making others feel special.”

Mrs. Motley’s bequest demonstrates the power each of us has to provide for the needs of others in our communities. Her gift serves as a permanent tribute while supporting the educational aspirations of young people from her community.
